Caerphilly
Recycling service
Caerphilly County Borough Council collects a co-mingled brown bin from each household every week.
The bin can be used for recycled paper, plastic bottles, tubs and pots, cans, cardboard and glass bottles and jars. Recycling bins are monitored and if a bin is found to be contaminated with non-recyclable materials it will not be collected and will receive a sticker explaining the issue.
Food and garden waste is collected weekly from a 7-litre caddy and green sack, respectively. The council provides a bulky household waste recycling service on request. There is a charge for all other items, ranging from £16 for up to three items and £31 for six items. If the furniture or electrical items are in a good reusable condition, the Furniture Revival will collect them free of charge.
Bulky garden waste and larger items will need a quote before being collected.
A green (sometimes black) 240-litre wheeled bin is used for residual waste and is collected fortnightly.
There are six household waste recycling centres across the county at Aberbargoed, Wattsville, Hengoed, Pontllanfraith, Llanbradach and Rhymney.
