Recycling service

Ceredigion County Council (CCC) provides a weekly co-mingled collections service for recycling. This means it collects most 'dry' recyclable materials combined in a single container, that is, metals, plastics, cardboard and paper.

It collects:

  • food waste every week, from a green caddy using caddy liners provided by the Council for free;

  • dry recycling every week, in single-use clear sacks, for:

    • metal cans, tins, aerosols and foil
    • plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
    • food and drink cartons such as Tetra Pak,
    • cardboard
    • paper, and
    • plastic bags and wrapping; and

  • glass bottles and jars every three weeks, from a black box.

CCC also collects:

Residents may take any old small electrical items and household batteries to their local library to be recycled.

The Council provides a bulky household waste collections service for large items. To find out how much this service costs, or to book a collection, residents should visit the Council’s website.

There are four Household Waste Sites in the county, which residents may use for free. Residents should visit the Council's website to check opening times, site rules, if they need a permit to attend in a large vehicle, and if they need to book an appointment before they visit a site.
